The city launched its first bike-sharing program this month, offering 34 rental bikes at six locations in Ohio City and at the Superior Viaduct.

But with bicycle thefts posing problems throughout Northeast Ohio, will the city be able to ensure the safety of its bicycles?

The answer is a resounding yes, according to bike share operators from other major cities, including Massachusetts-based Zagster.

Zagster CEO Tim Ericson said bike share docks are often located in busy, well-lit areas, making it harder for someone to steal a bike.
